I was probably 8 or 9 years old when my friend Billy introduced me to the world of professional wrestling. Growing up in Pennsylvania, it was the WWWF, as it was known by at the time. Billy had magazines that I would soak up as they mentioned other promotions and I would go off into my own fantasy world.
The very first wrestling show I attended live was in Allentown at the AG Hall and that was where the WWF (they knocked off a W by this point) did their television tapings. What I would see was the series of tapings after the Living Legend Bruno Sammartino was turned on by his protege, Larry Zybszko. Larry was getting nuclear heat at this time. Bruno was an announcer at this point and he would leave the announcer desk when Larry came out.
I believe that I would see a young Hulk Hogan here as well as Tony Atlas, Tito Santana and Ivan Putski, and others.
From there, wrestling was like KISS to me. Heroes. My own little world.
Over the years, my interest would come and go. I have a dear friend who loves going to wrestling events and since our spouses aren’t into it, we go together and have a great time, not just at the event, but the conversations before and after are always epic.
I will leave this post with a picture from the most recent event we attended.

My love of wrestling and my love of metal happened at the same time.
Wrestlemania I. Mr. T. I was eager to jump on board the train and learn all about this “WWF” thing that was on TV every Saturday. I was hooked!
